Abstracts

Abstracts are invited from researchers, sport scientists, coaches and other sport practitioners for parallel sessions and poster presentations on the following sub-themes:

• Scientific development in sport coaching
• Socio-cultural and psychological aspects of sport coaching
• Coach Education
• Philosophical aspects of sport coaching
• Legal responsibilities in sport coaching
• Athlete management
• Sport performance analysis and evaluation
• Challenges of sport coaching in a globalised world
• Retirement from elite sport— Challenges and remedies
• Sport coaching in developing countries— challenges and prospects
• Sport coaching in depressed economies
• Coaching and Technology

Abstracts should be written in English (200 or 250). The deadline for abstract submission is 30 June 2008. The abstracts can be submitted online or directly e-mailed.


Please note that your submission is not limited to the above-mentioned topics.
Submission guidelines:
• The abstract should be written in English (200-250 words).
• A Microsoft Word file containing the text of the abstract, written according to the given guidelines, should be sent to the address below.
• Once your abstract has been received, the Scientific Committee Secretariat will notify you of its receipt and any modifications required.
• The Secretariat will forward all abstracts to the Scientific Committee and all will be independently reviewed. The Committee reserves the right to accept or reduce an abstract, to designate papers either as posters or oral presentations, and to choose a suitable session for the abstract. A “blind” review system will be used when evaluating the abstracts.
• The abstract must be informative and include INTRODUCTION, METHODOLOGY/METHODS, summarised RESULTS and DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION sections, using those headings. It is unsatisfactory to state, for instance, ‘The results will be discussed.’
• Some discipline variations will be considered according to internationally accepted practice in these disciplines. For example, RESULTS and DISCUSSION sections may be combined in some cases. Times New Roman 10pt, justified, single-spacing.
• The presentation of papers in an oral session will be limited to 25 minutes, followed by a five-minute question period.
• Audio-visual equipment for the purpose of PowerPoint presentations will be available.
